A Model Apartment

Usually I can easily discern which version of a home that I prefer: the before or the after. When it comes to international supermodel Jessica Stam’s New York Apartment, I’m completely stumped. Stam stated to Vogue that she is “always redecorating” and, every time she is in New York, she stops by Flair in SoHo to see the store’s latest antique furniture finds. “My apartment will never be done,” she says. Looking back and forth at the two sets of photos I realize I don’t have to choose. It turns out Stam is just like me- always observing the world around her, her design personality always changing. The only difference is: Stam has the money to change her apartment when she wants to. By the time I save up for an item I want, I usually change my mind and want something else! Oh, to have the life of a famous supermodel- I honestly can’t complain. I’m happy to be able to spend time with the people I love in the place I love.

I think my favorite part about the apartment “before” is the fact that Stam really commits to a design; this makes her home truly unique. The “before” space is over-the-top girly, glamorous, and opulent- and that’s exactly why I like it.

The neutral walls in the remodel make the space feel so much bigger and more open. I’m really glad she kept the antique Moroccan doors; they’re certainly the exclamation point of the apartment.
