Friday Five: High Point Furniture Market-Inspired

High Point Furniture Market Style

I attended the High Point Furniture Market last week (April 5th-10th), and while I’m finding myself requiring a little bit of time to rest and recuperate from the excitement and inundation of interior inspiration, you can expect to see many posts over the next couple of weeks. Look for every aspect of Market to be covered from walk-throughs the showrooms I toured, analysis of over-arching themes and trends of what’s fashionable for home now (and what’s next), a look at the pieces and accessories that have my attention, a few¬† anecdotes about how hilariously socially awkward I can be (spoiled alert: a run-in with Aerin Lauder comes to mind), and some tips for attending HPMKT as a blogger because- I’ll be honest- not many “small, independent” bloggers cover Market, and it’s an amazing experience.

Friday Five: High Point Furniture Market

1. Shooting Stars Ceiling Lamp @ Zuo Modern: … and absolutely no one is shocked by this choice. I like to take my time when deciding whether or not to purchase an item for my home, but I’ve been obsessed with this piece since the first time I saw it years ago. I might as well save up, bite the bullet, and purchase this chandelier because I can’t seem to move past it.

At Market, there was an emphasis on task lighting (for floor and table lamps) and glitzy crystal chandeliers and hanging pendants. The Shooting Stars Ceiling Lamp may be aluminum, but gold and brass fixtures clearly dominated.

2. Large Green Shagreen Jewelry Box @ AERIN Home: Design is all about details, and in design, that often means accessories. Various styles of boxes of were in almost every showroom. Boxes are uniquely functional because they provide both storage and organization in addition to accessorizing a space. I love jewelry boxes, and this one in particular because it’s green and has a mid-century vibe (super trendy) thanks to its rectangular shape and brass detailing.

3. Crosshatch Decanters by DwellStudio for Global Views: Bars were one of the major focuses in High Point. Instead of the bulkier traditional bar, console, or barcart, trays have become a popular way to easily add the ease of entertaining to any room without committing to a large piece of furniture. If you’re going to have your liquor bottles and barware on display, it’s especially critical to have stylish glassware. You can’t go wrong with these Mad Men-esque decanters by DwellStudio.

4. Orla Kiely Pillow @ Surya: Surya is always one of my favorite showrooms to visit because it’s filled with a variety of fabrics, textures, and textiles formed into an expansive array of rugs, pillows, and poufs. I’m a huge fan of Irish designer, Orla Kiely’s, retro, pattern-centric designs, so I was immediately drawn to this pillow. Kiely’s designs marry perfectly with the abundance of mid century-inspired pieces at Market this season.

5. Remington Leather Chair @ Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams: I love the lounge vibe this chair has; it could just as easily sit in a contemporary hotel as it could a glamorous apartment. This chair is modestly mid century and neutral with an industrial metal base. This leather chair would be the perfect addition for an entertaining space. The Remington Chair is, in one word: chic.

Stay tuned for more trend forecasting and Furniture Market posts!
